Professional Development & Mentoring
Sharing Our Knowledge
Every year, we arrange over 75 CLE programs for our attorneys, many of which are presented by Chapman attorneys. Associates, too, have the opportunity to teach and share their knowledge. These programs are designed to expand our attorneys’ education and improve skills necessary for superior client service.
Mentoring Circles and Affinity Groups
Our partners understand what it takes to build and maintain a client base. With that in mind, our mentoring circles support the learning and advancement of our lawyers. Chapman also has affinity groups for women, ethnically diverse, and LGBTQ attorneys, which offer opportunities for attorneys from similar circumstances to network and support each others’ goals.
Pro Bono Matters
Chapman strongly encourages our lawyers to participate in pro bono activities, often helping attorneys find pro bono opportunities with local organizations. In addition, all associates receive billable hour credit for a certain number of hours of pro bono work.
Compensation & Benefits
Chapman offers its attorneys very competitive compensation and generous benefits. We support full time, flex-time and alternative work policies, offer extended maternity and paternity leave, provide access to backup child and elder care, and offer a tax gross up for health care benefits for same-sex couples. Additionally, we encourage our attorneys to become active participants in bar associations and other professional associations, and we pay dues and related costs for an organization of their choice. Chapman also pays a stipend to incoming first-year associates who are studying for the bar exam and fully reimburses the cost of bar registration and related expenses.
