Chapman Partner Lynda Given Honored by the Illinois ASBODownload
Lynda Given, a partner in Chapman’s Illinois Public Finance Department, was recognized by the Illinois Association of School Business Officials for her work on behalf of Illinois school districts.
CHICAGO — Chapman and Cutler LLP congratulates Lynda Given, partner in the Illinois Public Finance Department, on receiving the 2016 Above and Beyond Award given by the Illinois Association of School Business Officials (ASBO). She received the award on May 4, 2016 during the Illinois ASBO’s 65th annual conference held in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Lynda is the fifth person to receive the award, which was created in 2012 to honor individuals who work tirelessly with primary and secondary education administrators throughout Illinois’ school districts.
“Lynda is a trusted advisor to our clients and a cornerstone of the Illinois public finance community. We are very pleased to see her recognized with this well-deserved honor,” said Tim Mohan, Chapman’s Chief Executive Partner.
Lynda has focused her 36-year Chapman career in public finance and is well known for her work as bond counsel to Illinois school districts. Her experience includes more than 2,500 transactions representing more than $2.5 billion in finance for more than 650 school districts throughout Illinois.
“We’re very lucky to have service associate members like Lynda,” said Julie-Ann Fuchs, associate superintendent of Kaneland Community Unit School District 302 in Maple Park, and an Illinois ASBO board member. “It’s this information that they share with us that helps us make good decisions for our districts, which ultimately benefits the children in our communities.”
Lynda’s work in the education field extends beyond legal counsel. She has served on the Educational Facilities Subcommittee of the Illinois Building Commission, the Illinois Capital Development Board School Construction Guideline Task Force, the Finance Committee of the Governor’s Commission to Revise the Illinois School Code, and the Illinois Health/Life Safety Code Advisory Committee. She has written extensively on school bonds, warrants, notes, and other methods of financing for Illinois school facilities.
