Overview

Chapman and Cutler LLP attorneys have a national and international reputation for our extensive experience in secured and unsecured financing.  Such experience allows the firm to focus exceptional resources in the specialized area of lease finance.  Chapman and Cutler was active in the early development of leveraged leasing and municipal leasing as industries, and today our attorneys represent lessees, lessors, lenders and trustees in all types of leasing transactions, including leveraged lease financings, cross-border leases, tax-advantaged and municipal/governmental lease financings, synthetic leases, credit-tenant leases and a vast variety of lease-related transactions (e.g., equipment trust certificates, enhanced equipment trust certificates and lease portfolio securitizations).  Such transactions have involved countless types of real estate, fixtures and equipment (including railroad rolling stock, aircraft, vessels, vehicles and mining equipment), intellectual property, energy and related projects, telecommunications equipment, rail lines, office buildings, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, cogeneration facilities and retail stores.

In addition, our leasing attorneys engage in the representation of creditor committees, bondholders, indenture trustees or other creditors facing defaulted leases and other securities, workouts, debt and lease restructurings, exchange offers, refinancings, insolvencies and all stages of related financial litigation.

We recognize the need for creativity in structuring lease and related transactions to meet the needs of all participants, and the firm is accustomed to participating in the structuring process.  Our goal throughout such transactions is to provide our clients with the best possible legal advice, responsive service and clear and concise documentation in a timely manner.  Our leasing experience and extensive presence in lease finance allow our clients to both create and participate in complex and innovative financing structures.
