Practices
In any sizable commercial or financial enterprise, contract litigation can be unavoidable.  Skill, experience and efficiency are the qualities that measure effective representation.

Chapman and Cutler LLP’s litigators have a  record of successfully representing clients in contract disputes.

We offer our clients knowledgeable and experienced attorneys who possess strong litigation skills, with the analytical ability to identify and achieve effective resolutions.  We recognize that litigation is a means to an end.

Our litigators regularly draw upon the substantial resources and knowledge of the firm’s many other financial practice areas, adding to efficiency and depth.

Representative Transactions
  • We recovered the multi-million dollar replacement costs of a defective ten-mile wastewater pipeline, servicing a manufacturing facility in Washington, in litigation against and negotiation with the installation contractor, pipe manufacturer and design engineer. Statute of limitation defenses were overcome with creative contract and tort theories.
  • We collected from insurers of a forest preserve district a substantial portion of the remedial costs of a Superfund site owned by that district.
  • Chapman successfully defended a group of seven banks against an $8 million dollar breach of contract claim by a national outsourcer of bank data processing services.
