Michael McMahon is senior counsel in Chapman's Commercial Lending Group and a member of the Banking and Financial Services Department. Michael's practice focuses on bilateral and syndicated commercial loan facilities across a variety of industries, both on behalf of banks and other lenders and on behalf of corporate borrowers and their equity sponsors. Michael's experience includes negotiating, structuring, and documenting complex debt finance transactions, including loan facilities in connection with private equity-backed leveraged acquisitions and related incremental and refinancing transactions involving senior and junior secured facilities, secured and unsecured subordinated debt, mezzanine financing, asset-based lending, and various bespoke financing arrangements.
Michael also has experience advising clients in bankruptcy and restructuring matters.
Prior to joining Chapman, Michael worked as vice president and assistant general counsel at a leading financial institution, and he previously practiced at law firms in California and Chicago. Following law school, Michael served as a law clerk for the Honorable Victoria S. Kaufman of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California, as well as the Honorable Mathias W. Delort of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Chancery Division (now a judge of the First District Appellate Court of Illinois).
