Rick Klein is a partner in the Corporate Finance Department and the firm’s Lease Finance Group and Aircraft Finance Group. Rick has been with Chapman and Cutler since he began the practice of law in 1981 and is also a CPA.
Rick has extensive experience in the firm's private and public finance practice areas, including representation of insurance companies, domestic and foreign banks and other financial institutions in a broad variety of financial transactions.
In recent years, Rick has concentrated his practice in leasing and structured finance. Transactions have involved aircraft, railroad rolling stock, general equipment, vessels, manufacturing facilities, co-generation facilities, public infrastructure, real estate and other types of assets. These transactions have involved representation of a wide range of lenders, lessors and lessees, including insurance companies, hedge funds, banks, leasing companies and municipal entities and a broad array of financing structures including operating leases, leveraged leases, tax-advantaged leases, mortgage and synthetic lease financings, cross-border transactions, public-private partnerships, facility financings, securitizations, EETCs, equipment purchase arrangements, portfolio acquisitions and dispositions, and related workout, restructuring and bankruptcy arrangements. His practice also includes representing institutional investors in secured and unsecured privately placed debt financings.
