Scott Pierpont is a partner in Chapman's Asset Securitization Department. Scott has a broad, diversified practice that includes the representation of financial institutions, asset managers, funds, investors, developers, sponsors, and others in domestic and international financial transactions. His practice includes a specific focus on CLO transactions and related issues, primarily representing asset managers and arrangers, most frequently as lead transaction counsel.
Scott's transactional experience also includes structured finance (leveraged fund, collateralized debt obligation, and credit opportunity fund structures across most asset classes), fund of fund transactions, asset manager M&A transactions, structured credit products, derivatives, bank lending, project finance (power, gas, and industrial, including renewable energy), private equity, venture capital, and restructuring.
In the context of the more challenging global financial markets of recent years and an evolving regulatory environment for structured finance transactions, Scott also advises in connection with structured finance portfolio diagnostic projects, asset manager M&A activity, secondary market distressed debt sales and acquisitions, restructurings, the US and EU risk retention rules, Dodd-Frank, the Volcker Rule, and related legislation and regulations.
