Walt Begley is a partner and the Practice Group Leader of Chapman and Cutler’s Asset Securitization Department, and he currently acts as the firm’s Lateral Hiring Partner. Since joining the firm in 1984, Walt has worked primarily on structured financings, with particular emphasis on asset securitization transactions. His asset securitization clients include private and publicly held corporations, major commercial banks and insurance companies, as well as national and regional investment banking firms. Walt’s involvement in asset securitization financings has included the representation of issuers, underwriters, purchasers, trustees and servicers. His securitization experience includes work on a variety of asset types, including auto loan, lease receivable, mortgage loan, commercial loan, credit card receivable, student loan and timeshare securitizations.

- Representation of the issuer in connection with a $140 million term securitization of sub-prime auto loans
- Representation of the issuer in a $300 million structured warehouse facility involving the securitization of equipment finance contracts
- Representation of an investment bank in a $100 million securitization of mortgage loans
- Representation of the issuer in connection with a $1 billion student loan securitization
- Representation of the issuer, an affiliate of a bank holding company, in connection with a $110 million Rule 144A commercial loan securitization
- Representation of the seller, the federal savings bank affiliate of a major insurance company, in a $500 million receivables purchase facility for the bank’s prime auto loans
- Representation of the issuer with respect to the simultaneous acquisition and securitization of a portfolio of railroad rolling stock
- Representation of trustees and master servicers in connection with numerous securitization workouts and bankruptcies involving mortgage and non-mortgage assets
