CHICAGO, July 21, 2015 — Chapman and Cutler has been recognized again for contributions furthering LGBT equality within the workplace. Based on results from its 2015 law firm survey, Equality Illinois released its annual list of the top law firms demonstrating commitment to ending gender- and sexual orientation-based discrimination. This is Chapman’s sixth consecutive appearance on the list.

“Workplace equality has long been an everyday standard at Chapman,” noted Bill Libit, Chapman’s Chief Operating Partner and member of the firm’s LGBT Affinity Group. “Chapman’s open and inclusive environment not only supports our attorneys in their work, but also improves the quality of our legal services and client relationships, aligning with the corporate values of the institutions we serve.”

As part of its firmwide commitment to diversity, Chapman actively supports LGBT attorneys through its LGBT Affinity Group and provides inclusive and comprehensive benefit policies for same-sex couples. Chapman’s LGBT Affinity Group is comprised of openly gay attorneys and offers opportunities for mentoring, networking, and engaging in strategic discussions. The firm works closely with various organizations across the city, state, and nation to affect positive change through education and awareness.

To ensure diversity across all levels of the firm, Chapman continues to expand recruiting efforts of diverse law students through job fairs, events, pro bono work, and partnerships with non-profit organizations. These efforts extended to professional staff recruiting as well.

“Maintaining a diverse workforce serves to make meaningful, lasting contributions to our clients and communities,” commented Stacey Kielbasa, Director of Professional Development, Attorney Recruitment, and Diversity. “And, it’s just the right thing to do.”

Chapman was honored today, July 21, at the annual Raising the Bar recognition breakfast in Chicago.
