Solar Access to Public Capital (SAPC) recently issued a final report on its Mock Securitization Project. SAPC was a three-year project funded by a grant from the US Department of Energy that was overseen by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory who brought together solar, legal, banking, capital markets, and engineering communities to focus on ways to standardize practices, identify friction points and lower investment costs for the deployment of solar assets. Chapman partner Melanie Gnazzo served as co-chair of the legal committee for SAPC and her contributions to SAPC included co-developing the legal structure and term sheets for the tandem tax equity-securitization mock transaction that was presented to rating agencies and other capital markets participants. Melanie is also on the Board of Directors of the Solar Energy Finance Association.
