Overview

Gabriel Lara is an associate in Chapman’s Commercial Lending Group and a member of the Banking and Financial Services Department. His practice is focused on representing creditors, including banks and other financial institutions, in a wide range of secured and unsecured credit facilities.

Gabriel participated in Chapman's summer associate program in 2019 and joined the firm in 2021. During law school, Gabriel was recognized as the “Law Student of the Year” by the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois, received the “Outstanding Leadership Award” from Chicago-Kent College of Law, and regularly volunteered with pro bono organizations, including the Pro Bono Project and Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. As a law student, he also participated in a summer internship at Northern Trust. Following law school, Gabriel served as a Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) Fellow at Ascend Justice where he worked on immigration and order of protection matters.
