Chapman and Cutler LLP mourns the loss of senior counsel, colleague, and friend, Rich DiLallo, who passed away on September 7, 2026. He was 53.
Rich was a summer associate in 2000 and, after graduating from Chicago-Kent College of Law, joined the Firm in 2001 as an associate in the Corporate Finance Department. His practice focused on representing financial institutions, institutional investors, and other businesses in debt private placements, Rule 144A offerings, equipment and real estate leasing transactions, and complex project and facility financings. After several years practicing at another firm, Rich returned to Chapman in 2013 and continued his corporate finance practice here with distinction.
“Rich cared deeply for his clients and his colleagues. He was the lawyer you trusted immediately and relied on completely: thoughtful under pressure, practical in his advice, meticulous in his work, and unwaveringly dependable,” said Greg Klamrzynski, Chapman’s Chief Executive Partner. Partner Jim Nelson, who worked extensively alongside Rich, added: “I had the privilege of working closely with Rich since the start of his legal career. He excelled as a lawyer and was always there when you needed him. He will be deeply missed.”
