Overview
Steven Washington is a partner and member of Chapman's Illinois Public Finance Department. He represents a variety of state and local issuers, including state agencies, cities, counties, school districts, and other government and municipal issuers on a variety of derivative and investment transactions.
Steven has extensive experience serving as bond or underwriter’s counsel in general obligation, limited tax, revenue, alternate revenue (or double-barreled), and refunding bonds. He serves as counsel to investment banking firms in the underwriting or remarketing of tax-exempt and taxable bonds and also serves as borrower's counsel to a variety of not-for-profit organizations, including charter schools, private schools, and museums.
Prior to joining Chapman, Steven was a municipal finance partner at two large law firms and also served as chief of staff to the president of the Chicago Board of Education.
